Yolanda L. Nowlin, Attorney At Law
Yolanda L. Nowlin grew up in Wilson, N.C, and graduated from North
Carolina State University in 1995 with a degree in Political Science.
Ms. Nowlin earned her law degree in 2002, from Thomas M. Cooley
Law School, in Lansing, Michigan.
During her time in law school, Yolanda Nowlin excelled to the top of
her class and was the Vice-President of the Student Bar Association.
She was also an Article's Editor on the Thomas M. Cooley's Law
Journal. Upon graduation, she received numerous awards for her
academic excellence, leadership and dedication to the student body.
During her last year of law school, Ms. Nowlin worked as an intern for
the Wake County District Attorney's Office where she handled a case
load which included traffic infractions, DWI's, and various other
misdemeanor charges.
Ms. Nowlin was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2002.
Upon receiving her law license, she worked 4 years for the law firm of
Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, P.L.L.C. There she worked
closely with partners and other law firms on complex litigation matters
involving product liability and discovery matters for a large
pharmaceutical company.
Outside of her work as an attorney, Ms. Nowlin is involved in several
organizations. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the
North Carolina Bar Association, Capital City Lawyers Association, and
the Wake County Women Attorneys Association. She is also a
member of the international legal fraternity of Phi Delta Phi, which was
established in 1869 to promote a higher standard of professional ethics
in the legal world. Phi Delta Phi is one of the oldest legal organizations
in the country, and has members around the world, including former
Chief Justice Williams Rehnquist.
Ms. Nowlin's legal experience is vast and knowledgeable. She has
handled criminal matters ranging from a simple traffic infraction to
something as serious as drug trafficking, and has been successful in
obtaining positive resolutions for her clients on a number of cases. Ms.
Nowlin also has experience in civil matters, including personal injury
and worker's compensation, where she works hard to assist injured
people in obtaining justice and compensation for their injuries. Lastly,
Ms. Nowlin's knowledge and experience includes real estate, which
involves loan closings, title examination, and preparing various legal
documents.
